Privacy Policy

Onsight is an iOS climbing companion app for tracking outdoor sessions, altitude, heart rate, and progress. It is designed to work entirely on-device with no external data transmission.

1) Summary

• No data collection. Onsight does not collect, store, or transmit personal data to external servers.
• Fully on-device. All climbing data, session history, and preferences are stored locally on your device.
• No analytics or tracking. Onsight does not use analytics, tracking, or advertising SDKs.
• No third-party sharing. No data is shared with third parties.
• Optional iCloud sync. Uses your personal Apple ID and iCloud storage — Onsight has no access to your iCloud account.

2) Data storage

A) App content (stored locally)

All data you create in Onsight — climbing sessions, routes, grades, personal records, and app preferences — is stored locally on your device in Onsight's app storage.

Onsight does not require you to provide personal identifiers to use the app.

B) iCloud sync (optional)

If you enable iCloud sync, your data is synced through your personal Apple ID and iCloud storage. Onsight does not operate sync servers and has no access to your iCloud account or credentials.

3) Sensor data

A) Barometer (altitude)

Onsight may use your device's barometric sensor to estimate altitude during climbing sessions. This data is processed entirely on-device and is never transmitted externally.

B) HealthKit (heart rate & calories)

If you grant permission, Onsight may read heart rate and calorie data from Apple HealthKit during sessions. This data is processed on-device and is never transmitted to any external server. Onsight does not write data to HealthKit without your explicit permission.

4) Photos

Photos taken within Onsight are stored locally on your device. They are not uploaded to any server and are not transmitted externally.

5) Information we do not collect

Onsight does not collect or transmit:

• Analytics events, telemetry, or usage profiling
• Advertising identifiers or tracking data
• Your climbing sessions, routes, or personal records
• Location data to external servers
• Crash reports sent to Onsight

6) Third-party services

Onsight does not integrate third-party analytics, advertising, or data-processing services. No SDKs from third parties are included in the app.

7) Purchases

If you purchase Onsight through the App Store, Apple processes the payment and provides us with limited purchase-related information needed to operate the App Store transaction. We do not receive your payment card details. Apple's handling of App Store purchases is governed by Apple's own policies.

8) Sharing and disclosure

Because Onsight is designed to operate locally and does not transmit your app content to external servers, we do not share your personal data with third parties for advertising or marketing.

We may disclose information only if required to comply with applicable law or a valid legal process, to the extent we can do so based on information in our possession.

9) Data retention and deletion

Your data remains on your device until you delete it. Uninstalling Onsight removes all locally stored app data. iCloud-synced data can be managed through your iCloud settings.

10) Security

We rely on iOS security features, app sandboxing, and your device protections to help safeguard locally stored data.

11) Children

12) Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the effective date above. If changes are material, we will take reasonable steps to notify you (for example, through an in-app notice or in release notes).
